My grandmother was a refugee in a foreign land
She created a legacy of life force for which I shall be forever grateful
When we make our darkness visible, we gain the gifts of strength, courage, power, heart, voice, vision and spirit. These are the outcomes from getting our shit sorted out, and clears the space for us to create lives of delicious adventure.
I almost died twice trying to sacrifice myself to save my wife, and I had no idea why I was doing it. But I didn’t want to see someone else doing the same.
When I first began to write in 2017, I thought that if I could save one man from hurting himself or someone else then it would all be worthwhile.
It was only when I decided to write a book in a week in 2020 that I realised that I was writing because of my love for my grandmother.
My grandmother was a refugee in a foreign land, she overcame the famine and war that left her emotionally crippled. Despite her emotional wounds, she created a legacy of life force, money, and power for which I shall be forever grateful.
In my marriage, I had been projecting that love for my grandmother and my own desire to save my grandmother from her anger onto my marriage.
I saw her immense sacrifice for family, and I unconsciously copied her example to the point that it almost killed me, because the women I chose to be in relationship with did not have the same value for family that she had.
This book is written from the heart because my grandmother would expect nothing less after she risked her life and sacrificed her own heart to create the privileges of opportunity for the family.
And here I am with my fourth book “Making Darkness Visible”.
At Inspirational Book Writers, Davina has been my publishing manager for the last three years. When we write these kinds of books, our writing shifts our identity. Publishing is the most mundane of her duties. Davina has coached over 250 first-time book writers, as I was three years ago, through the process of going from a raw manuscript, to having a book published.
Davina has the same value for family that my grandmother had, and all of the writers become part of the family of authors that write together in the IBW community.
And at least 100 of those have become #1 Amazon bestsellers. She has amazing intuitive understanding for knowing what the next step is in the emotional path of writing the book.
So I invited her to come on a podcast interview, and talk about how Making Darkness Visible applies to writing too.
